We have been discussing aerobic vs. anaerobic a lot lately with people.
The science clearly shows high intensity - shorter workouts are best for fat loss purposes. Know this: DOING MORE AND MORE AEROBIC ACTIVITY WILL NOT HELP YOUR LONGTERM FAT LOSS GOALS. Here is something to think about... This is the endurance swimming record holder, Penny Palfrey: she swam 40 hours and set the world record for the longest solo swim. She swam 68 miles across the Cayman Islands!! It is hard to imagine anyone more "AEROBICALLY FIT" than her. Well, if aerobics were REALLY the best exercise for fat loss, wouldn't she be leaner than her sprinting counterparts, who must avoid doing aerobic/endurance training because of the specific needs of their specific sporting event?? Well, below are the medal winners and record holders for 50 and 100 meter sprints- Natalie Coughlin and Dara Torres. Obviously, they are all fit people. But, one form of training is superior for fat loss. Just another thing to think about next time you guys want to swim for your homework.
